Google Pixel Watches do not come with repair options

From Consumer_Action_Taskforce

The Google Pixel Watch 3 is a smartwatch made by Google. The device comes with no warranty for damages and maintains a replacement-only policy for consumers. There are no spare parts made available for the device.[1]

Background

This is contrary to other product lines by Google, like with the Google Pixel smartphone, where spare parts are available and repairs are possible.[2][3] Instead, customers are encouraged to look at replacement options, not at repair options.[4] A common repair for smartwatches is replacing the screen of the device, which can be done in a number of steps with the right parts available.[5]

Google maintains replacement-only for consumers

The parts however are not made available, which surprises customers as it does not give them many options if not under warranty.[6][7][8][9]

Google's response

Customer support mentions that physical damage is not covered by warranty, so the advice for customers is to consult their own accidental damage protection if they have it on their purchase.

A year later in 2024, this is still the position of Google for the smartwatch.[10] Replacement is possible if you have their Preferred Care insurance plan to cover damages, which will additionally ask $49 in service fees when you use it. [10]
