It has been gaining popularity because it can help to minimize carbon emissions and the consumption of raw materials, open up new market prospects, and, principally, increase the sustainability of consumption. Consumers are able to participate in the circular economy in many ways from utilizing seemingly defunct electronics or components in repurposed use cases for the hardware no longer appropriate for the originally intended use-case to they themselves repairing / upgrading damaged components of electronics with (preferably used) components to restore functionality.
Enthusiasts are also able to interact with others, sharing and pooling concepts, talents, resources, and tools with others both online and offline within venues where decorum and civility are prioritized with the underlying goal of expanding the growing community where circular economy practices are implemented to counterbalance, and eventually, subsume, the questionable practices typically associated with seasonal marketing campaigns of many entities encouraging seemingly haphazard purchases of consumers.
