Consumer impact summary edit
Same as with DJI products, this manufacturer's devices require an initial connection to an proprietary app in order to be usable.
Moreover, certain Insta360 devices, such as the Insta360 X5, feature a persistent notification bar button in the camera’s interface that promotes Insta360+, a paid cloud service, even for non-subscribers. This practice has been criticized as embedded advertising, potentially pressuring users to subscribe and limiting control over the device’s interface.[1]

- ↑ Ried, Erwin (30 Apr 2025). "I bought the X5... the cloud360+ stuff is getting out of control! It's destroying the app and the firmware, why it needs to be everywhere? I get it, I see how it can be useful but CAN I PLEASE HIDE IT OR DISABLE IT? Instead of a sync to cloud button, can I have something useful there? 🥲 I moved away from GoPro because how annoying and slow they made their apps... But now I am starting to think on DJI when they release their 360 if insta360 continues messing the app so much". Facebook. Retrieved 1 May 2025.
