The POCO X3/X3 Pro are mobile phones created by Xiaomi. These models are particularly prone to randomly bricking, either because of bad software updates, or bad quality soldering. The company usually ignores customer's complaints or requests for help if the warranty period is expired, even if forced updates caused the phone to become unusable.

Consumer impact summary

Some incidents show that the company doesn't care if changes to software make the phone unusable, nor does it care about the longevity of the devices manufactured by them.

Incidents

This is a list of all consumer protection incidents related to this product. Any incidents not mentioned here can be found in the POCO X3 / X3 Pro category.

Bad quality solder joints cause the phone not to start at all just around the time when warranty expires (2022 and onwards)

Bad quality soldering caused chips to partly detach from the main board, rendering the phone dead, or in mild cases only losing some functionality.[1] The issue requires board level repair, which in the best cases can restore the phone to working order for about 2 years, but in the worst case the phone only survives for about a day before not turning on again, and the outcome of the repair can't always be determined in advance, so the phone after the repair isn't reliable anymore.[2][3]

MIUI 13 update causing phones to bootloop (2022-07-25)

After the MIUI 13 update, phones were stuck in a bootloop. Customer support ignored customers who were out of the warranty period.
