Periodically when starting a show, you may be served an advertisement when logged into an ad free tier subscription. There is no mention of 'ad' in the TOS to indicate ads may appear with a subscription shown up with an advertised 'ad free' tier.

Background[edit | edit source]

When logged in with an ad free subscription, I received a skippable ad promoting a different show. After reaching out to customer support, they responded stating, "These are not traditional ads or commercials but rather promotional trailers for other content that might interest you."

Crunchyroll's response[edit | edit source]

I completely understand your concern about the ads, especially as you’ve subscribed to a higher tier of our service. Please allow me to clarify: Crunchyroll features some trailers and previews for other anime series and movies in our library. These are not traditional ads or commercials but rather promotional trailers for other content that might interest you. The good news is that these trailers are fully skippable and will not interrupt your experience if you're watching multiple episodes in a row. However, I know this might still be a little frustrating, so I want to reassure you that they are not part of the ad-supported experience and won't affect your streaming experience long-term.
