Related incidents[edit source]

For anyone working on this incident, there is also the Amazon Echo changes terms of voice usage article, which goes into the “Do Not Send Voice Recordings” privacy feature being killed to feed the Alexa+ generative AI model. (source) There is a lot going on with the smart assistant and the devices, which you can see on the main Amazon article.

@CityguyUSA I have put parts of your text, the sentences that start with "I would expect" or "I'm guessing", as comments. They are still there, they show up when you click "edit" on the article. InTransparencyWeTrust (talk) 09:30, 29 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Regular Alexa[edit source]

Is it already clear what happens to non-prime customers with their smart devices, if they do not want to pay for the subscription for Alexa Plus? Can they still use all the features that they could use before, is the generative AI feature just an extra, or will certain features also move over to the Alexa Plus subscription?
