Online piracy (also called digital piracy, internet piracy or software piracy) is the practice of downloading and distributing copyrighted works digitally without permission, such as music, movies or software.[1]

Gamers resorting to piracy

Gamers resort to piracy sometimes as a 'try before you buy' tactic[2], and other times to avoid huge paywalls for things like Netflix, which is a very expensive streaming service. Because of piracy, Netflix's costs have been avoided by gamers so they can watch the movies they want for free, instead of having to pay an absurd amount for movies they don't want[3].
