Interchangeable parts are components designed for wider compatibility beyond the fit of the original product. Interchangeability in product design enables mechanics, technicians, and others to repair products or replace parts without depending on the original manufacturer or designer. This practice allows for anyone to repair products they've purchased and is a necessary component of the right to repair.
