on this topic, I think it's probably fair to include some of the 'user choice' counter-argument, which is essentially that, instead of the content being 'free' but paywalled if the user does not consent to data collection, users are simply offered the choice of paying via data or paying via money. - Pay a small monthly fee to access the service without tracking.
