Anti-consumer practices
They came into controversy in 2024 for a misconfiguration causing customer location data to be made publicly accessible.
It is not clear whether users were informed that their data was stored in the public cloud.[1]
In response to the controversy, CARIAD stated that "[we have] no need to take any action, as no sensitive information such as passwords or payment details are affected."[2]
Stored Data Availability
The data was not conventionally leaked rather the data was stored on third party cloud servers (Amazon servers) but was Unencrypted and was quite easily accessible for everyone as it was on public cloud for months, as this can be a rule violation if proved under GDPR.[1]
