- Main article: Pearson plc November 2018 Data Breach
In November 2018 Pearson's digital tool "aimswebPlus", which monitored academic progress of students, was hacked. This leaked student data from 13,000 schools and one million college students.[1] Pearson's wasn't informed about this until March 2019 after an FBI Investigation, and only made a public statement about it months later in July 2019. In the since deleted statement[2] Pearson's Scott Overland said "The exposed data was isolated to first name, last name, and in some instances may include date of birth and/or email address."
