Audible, a subsidiary of Amazon, has a pending class action lawsuit against them for enrolling Amazon customers into the Audible membership and charging them the $14.95/month subscription fee without the customers' consent.

Many customers were under the impression that they got free Audible credits with their Amazon Prime membership, just as they get free Twitch subscriber credits and other benefits. However this was not the case. There is a class action lawsuit currently pending against Amazon for this deceptive business practice.[1]

Amazon is well-known for engaging in the anti-consumer practice of forced retention of payment methods. Grace Sherk, the plaintiff in the pending lawsuit claims that Amazon had given the retained payment information of Amazon customers to Audible[1], which allowed the subsidiary to profit from non-mutual transactions.

The plaintiff states that the victims of Amazon's enrollment to Audible had a difficult time cancelling the subscription service[1], which may be due to the company's failure to enact click-to-cancel. Many businesses with subscription models create unneeded obstacles to the cancellation of their services, effectively holding customers' wallets hostage.
