Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution is a platform video game developed and published by WayForward. What is being discussed here is the physical gameboy advance physical release which is produced by retro-bit and published by limited run games. This is a 3rd party cartridge for the gameboy advanced produced by retro-bit due to the fact the official gba cartridges are no longer in production. This was marketed and sold as a limited release collector grade item and was charged an msrp that started from 59.99 usd, a price tag usually reserved for triple a releases.

Consumer impact summary edit
The product that was marketed as a premium, collector grade item was shipped without any sufficient protection which resulted in customers obtaining damaged goods. (I cannot find the post where someone complained, hence I'm providing a previous damaged collectors edition as a source.)[1]
The cartridges themselves utilized recycled parts of what were flashcarts which retro-bit also sold on their website. Customers described them as containing "bootleg mod chips". This was first denied by the company but then they later partially confessed to it and then justified their actions. These products have a worse cosmetic condition than cheaper flashcards one can obtain from Aliexpress.[2][3]
Many users have been suffering from issues with these cartridges. Most notably, save data is deleting itself, sound is coming out distorted, the game crashing and in some incidents, the cartridge doesn't work. Customers cannot return and replace damaged goods easily due to the publisher, limited run games making it very difficult to do so. Customer service does their best to pin the blame on the customer and refuse returns and refunds. In the instances they do agree, in case of a refund its partial. In case of a replacement, they require the customer to ship it at their own expense.[4]
The terrible cosmetic condition of the product has sparked concern over its safety. Due to lrg's products having a history of killing consoles due to voltage issues, there is a concern that this cartridge is harmful for customer's gameboy advance's, ds's, analogue pocket's and other products capable of running gameboy advance cartridges. 2 previous products could kill the nes.[5][6]

The game will not load on the analogue product properly despite marketing showcasing compatibility. [7]
Due to the company cheaping out on quality, the rom will not save properly on emulators, "Weird, this dump worked fine for me on the EZ Flash Omega DE without issue, saves and all. I noticed there were issues for some people on emulators, apparently that's because they cheaped out on the type of cartridge they used. It was designed to save in one way, but they used a rom hack to make it save in another way to produce cheaper cartridges. There's already a patch on GBATemp to fix that though."[8]
The game keeps crashing while saving.[9]
