Background

Ola Electric[1] is an electric scooter manufacturer in India with numerous electric scooters on sale since 2021.[1] The company has a poor track record for quality and has had previous issues with consumer rights in India.[2]

Incident

Features like Eco mode, selectable ride modes, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), voice commands, and "smart charging" are locked behind a subscription. [3][4][5][6][7] Previously, they were available as a standard feature. Now they are subscription only.
