McDonalds App invasive and anti-consumer security policies
I think this article needs to be extended with a section addressing the "security" policies in the McDonalds global app. Around October 2025, McDonalds implemented very obscure checks in the application for the following:
- No third party apps installed
- Play services working and with MEETS_STRONG_INTEGRITY flag
- No third party app markets installed (F-Droid, Aptoide...)
- No mod apps installed (Lucky Patcher, HappyMod...)
- No root access enabled
- No developer mode enabled
- No custom ROMs
- Possibly more, but it doesn't say anywhere
The above are all speculative checks that are not confirmed or denied by McDonalds.
This has dropped their Google Play reviews to 2.3 stars, but they don't seem to care, and have instead started pushing users to install the app forcefully by removing services previously offered in-store like table service, and only offering that through the app.
I have never contributed to the Consumer Rights Wiki, and am not sure how to include this in the article, but I'd be willing to provide as much info as I have on the topic and do further research if needed.
I think it is worth noting I am from Spain, so the above may only partially, or not at all apply to the US or other regions, although, this being the supposedly global app, I would assume it does. Cody (talk) 12:49, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
