In September 2025, the app PsychonautWiki Journal was updated to Version 12.0 on both Android and iOS. This update came with a new restriction on drug & interaction tracking that was provided without warning prior to the update.
Background
[edit | edit source]PsychonaughtWiki Journal[1] is an application developed by Isaak Hanimann released in 2021. PsychonautWiki Journal is a medication & drug tracking app, designed first and foremost for substance users, but is also usable for tracking of typical prescription medication. It allows users to track their medication use as well as potential drug interactions, including potentially severe negative interactions with psychedelic or perception-altering substances and allows substance users to safely plan tolerance breaks to prevent overuse.
Version 12.0 Premium tier lockout
[edit | edit source]On the 4th of September 2025, Version 12.0 of PsychonautWiki Journal was released on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. This update added a prompt to upgrade to Premium, with the restriction that users would continue to be able to track their three most-used drugs for free.
This change was not warned in advance of the update, and users would find themselves logging in to track a substance only to be entirely unable to[2] because they were not presented with the option to choose what preferred drugs remained trackable, or with a warned grace period.
Isaak's response
[edit | edit source]Upon opening the prompt, the user is met with a message saying; "PsychonautWiki Journal is free for anyone who can't afford it. In that case send a message to [email protected]". As of yet users have not been met with any negative response.
