Basic HVAC "Sync" Function Paywalled (2022)

[edit | edit source]
Main article: Audi Basic HVAC "Sync" Function Paywalled

An owner of an Audi Q4 E-Tron opted out of paying for tri-zone climate control, an optional add-on in regions outside of the U.S. and U.K. that costs $758. However, the HVAC "Sync" button was still present within the vehicle, and upon being pressed, displayed a message on the infotainment screen that read "the function has not been purchased." This incident foreshadowed Audi's pivot towards subscription-based car features.[1][2][3]
