The Consumer Rights Wiki is a public wiki, which means anyone can post on it. This policy covers what to do if you find content that's unlawful rather than just against our editing standards: child sexual abuse material (CSAM), doxxing, non-consensual intimate imagery, terrorist material, and so on. This sort of content is usually self-evident. If you're unsure whether what you're seeing falls into this category, this policy probably doesn't apply.

Please remember not to download, screenshot, save or forward any content that falls under this policy.

FULU staff and contractors active on the wiki are presently User:Keith and User:JakeL.

What to do

For readers and editors

  • Alert a mod with the @wiki mod ping on our Discord or Zulip platforms, or post on the moderators' noticeboard.
  • If you're able to remove the content, please feel free to do so.

For moderators or admins

  • Delete or roll back the file(s) and/or edit(s).
  • Get a suppressor or superadmin to suppress it. Suppression can hide the content, the username and the edit summary, and go further so it isn't visible to other admins either.
  • Block the uploading account and any linked accounts.
  • Email [email protected] using the reporting template below. Please do this even if you've handled the removal yourself or notified staff elsewhere.

What to suppress

For suppressors and superadmins

The options are revision text, edit summary, and editor's username/IP. What you need depends on what's been posted, so use your judgement:

  • The revision text itself.
  • The edit summary, as people often repeat inappropriate words, content or URLs there.
  • The username, if it contains inappropriate words or identifies the person being doxxed.

Log entries are suppressed separately via Special:Log, using the same interface.

Blocking

For moderators or admins

Block via Special:Block. For content under this policy:

  • Block type: Sitewide, not partial.
  • Expiration: Indefinite.
  • Block details: Tick account creation, sending email, and editing own talk page.
  • Hide username from edits and lists: Only if the username itself contains inappropriate words or identifies someone being doxxed.
  • Reason: Keep it neutral and don't describe the content.

Exceptions

  • CSAM. Everything should be suppressed to the fullest extent possible, including "Suppress data from administrators as well as others" so it isn't visible to other admins.
  • Doxxing. Contact a Discord or Zulip mod to remove it from the #wiki feed and any other bridges.

Reporting template

When emailing [email protected], include what you have from the list below. Don't worry if you have to leave fields blank.

  • Page(s) or file name(s):
  • Account name(s) involved:
  • When you found the content (date and time, with timezone):
  • How you found it: (e.g. saw in #wiki, spotted on Recent Changes)
  • What actions you've taken: (removed / deleted / suppressed / blocked)
  • Is it still visible anywhere:

Under no circumstances should you attach images or paste the content itself.

What happens next

Paid staff will handle everything past this point, including reporting to the relevant authorities and permanent removal of the content. People involved will be kept up to date where appropriate, but this isn't guaranteed and outcomes may not always be shared.
