Summary
[edit | edit source]Windows: Apps typically ask people for consent in order to get write permission and install. The LG Monitor App as of 2026 does a silent download. Many users were unaware of this app, until they probably ran into performance issues caused by this bloatware and/or malware. As this is a program that downloads over the internet and may or may not be sending data back to a center.
Issues
[edit | edit source]- The problem is that users do not know the exact specifics of what the app behavior is, as the app can open/close randomly.
- The app can mess with Fullscreen apps and especially gameplay, as the App can launch by a scheduler (Windows/LG) and therefore take you out of Fullscreen. All while you can't see the app running unless you alt-tab.
- Users observe that the app background tasks what the user was doing.
- Deleting the app is a complicated non straightforward process.
- The app also defaults to loading at boot time.
- The app used to serve pop up ads but now does not.
- Clicking on the app allows users to install more things like (Switch, Calibration, Dual Controller, LG Channels).
