Consumer-impact summary

[edit | edit source]

STMicroelectronics products include chips to provide "secure solutions for authentication and brand protection".[1] A main use for these chips is in consumables[2] to ensure that only brand name replacements are used. Examples include such things as inkjet printer cartridges and rechargeable batteries. STMicroelectronics actively markets this technology to other businesses.[3][4]
