On my removal of the February 2026 Earnings Call incident

[edit source]

As of today, I've made an edit removing the incident from February 2026 in which Chipotle was accused of planning to raise prices following metrics they had gotten regarding the income of their consumer base.

I did this because when I actually looked into that story, it seemed far more so that there was a misinformed public. Wall Street Apes framed the issue as CEO Boatwright getting "caught," but I don't believe you're "caught on recording" if that recording was literally an earnings call. Boatwright never mentioned pricing in the call, as Chipotle clarified after the situation blew up on social media.

Ultimately, I made an edit writing out the truth of the incident IN the article so that we have a diff containing that, and then followed it up with the deletion. This way, if we decide we really want it back in the article, we can pull it back in, but it still be correct. That said, I chose to omit it entirely because the list of incidents, to my knowledge, ought to be exclusively indicative of true company harms.
