RO water filter

edit

I use a RO water filter and wanted to bypass this filter in the fridge. The bypass even has an RFID on it. I think if you wanted to use generic brand filter maybe get the RFID from the bypass? The manual my fridge came with said that it should have come with the filter bypass and if it didnt I can call and get one for free. The hardware store unbox the fridge for me and I think might have throw out the filter bypass. Here is an amazon link to the bypass I am talking about. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DDMYZ39W —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dataordata (talkcontribs) 00:37, 15 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Should this also include the XWFE filters?

edit

The same situation applies to XWFE filters which are physically the same as XWF. GE also claims the chip in this case enables leak detection at the filter and will trigger the shutoff valve if the filter becomes wet. However, they also will disable the water if a filter, or filter bypass, without the RFID chip is installed. The XWFE are also used in a lot of models including budget oriented side-by-sides.
