Background

[edit | edit source]

Testo manufactures environmental monitoring hardware, including the Saveris 2 datalogger range, which depends entirely on a proprietary cloud platform (“Saveris 2 Cloud”) for configuration, alarms, data access, and compliance reporting. The system provides no supported local or offline operation; cloud access is required for normal use.

Forced migration with paid subscription

[edit | edit source]

On 22 April 2026, Testo informed customers by email that the Saveris 2 Cloud will be shut down on 30 June 2026. Users must migrate to a newly introduced cloud platform to retain functionality. As part of this change, Testo discontinued the previously free “Basic” license and introduced a mandatory paid subscription for continued use after a six‑month trial period. Customers who choose not to migrate are offered a data export, but all cloud‑based functionality ceases, effectively limiting the usability of already purchased hardware. The change applies to existing installations, including deployments in compliance‑sensitive environments such as laboratories, pharmaceutical storage, and food safety monitoring.

Testo's email

[edit | edit source]

Dear Sir or Madam,

Today we have an important announcement for you. The Saveris 2 Cloud will be discontinued on 30 June 2026 and will no longer be available after that date. To continue your monitoring without interruption, you must migrate to our new cloud platform before then. In this letter, we would like to explain transparently why this change is necessary and how we will support you as best as possible during this transition.

Why are we moving to a new cloud environment?

The Saveris 2 Cloud has proven itself over many years, but in order to meet the ever-increasing requirements for stability, security, and performance in the long term, further fundamental development of this platform is no longer technically feasible or sensible. Without a complete restart, the risk of system failures, data loss, and cyberattacks would continue to increase. To prevent these risks, Testo has decided to develop a completely new and modern cloud platform. In addition, given the increased legal requirements, particularly in the area of cybersecurity, only a future-proof and sustainably financed platform model can guarantee the necessary long-term security and availability.

What is changing for you as a Basic customer?

The free Basic license is no longer available following the transition to the new cloud. Unfortunately, discontinuing this license is a necessary step to ensure that we can continue to invest in a secure, stable, and future-proof platform. As a token of our appreciation for your loyalty, you will receive a free 6‑month trial period in the new cloud for the same number of loggers currently active in your account. After the trial period ends, your account will automatically be converted to a paid subscription. The cost is €20 per datalogger per year, or €2.50 per month. You may cancel at any time before the end of the trial period if you do not wish to continue.

Information about the upcoming migration

How will the migration take place?

From the beginning of May 2026, a migration assistant with step-by-step instructions will be available within the Saveris 2 Cloud. This tool will automatically transfer your existing configuration—dataloggers, measurement points, measurement profiles, and user accounts—to the new environment. No IT skills are required.

Our offer to you

If you do not wish to migrate, we will of course provide a complete export of your data from the Saveris 2 Cloud. Details on this will be communicated well in advance of the shutdown date. Your personal Testo contact remains available to answer any questions regarding migration and licensing options. We are also happy to schedule a short meeting to discuss the next steps together.

Is any action required today?

In the dashboard of your Saveris 2 Cloud interface, you will find an information window that will be continuously updated over the coming weeks. Please keep an eye on this to stay informed at all times and not miss any updates.

What does the new cloud offer you?

The new platform has been completely redesigned and offers genuine added value: Future-ready: The new cloud is based on modern technological standards, ensuring long-term stability, security, and regulatory compliance. It is certified according to EN 12830 and therefore meets legal audit requirements for the food and pharmaceutical sectors, particularly with regard to data integrity and protection against manipulation.

Compatibility with testo 164: The new cloud supports the latest testo 164 datalogger series, featuring small, compact sensors that can operate largely independently of your network infrastructure. Thanks to sub‑1‑GHz radio technology, the sensors offer excellent range even in demanding environments, with a battery life of up to 10 years.

Modern, intuitive user interface: The new cloud provides a much more modern and efficient user experience in daily use, with fewer clicks, faster analyses, and reduced training effort. Alarm data can be shown or hidden as needed, and different measurement parameters are clearly separated for improved readability.

User and license management: With different roles (Admin, Standard, Analyst) and individual user access, the solution is more scalable and easier to manage. Licenses can be independently managed and expanded via the Testo Subscription Portal.

Faster commissioning and implementation: Standardized configurations can be saved as measurement profiles and transferred to other measurement points using simple copy and paste. With the testo Smart App, loggers can be quickly configured on site using a smartphone—without the need for a PC. Advanced alarm management: The new automatic alarm acknowledgment minimizes manual effort while ensuring traceability of documentation. Push notifications via the testo Smart App complement email and SMS alerts, ensuring that important messages reach the right people immediately.

API Self‑Service (coming soon): You will be able to configure your REST API data interface directly in the new cloud without the manual work previously required in Saveris 2. The API will be available as a simple add‑on for €2.50 per account per month.

We thank you for your trust and many years of loyalty as a Testo customer. It is important to us that this transition takes place as smoothly and transparently as possible, and that we provide you with a platform that supports your monitoring needs safely, legally compliant, and reliably in the long term.
