Consumer-impact summary

-Personal Perpetual Licence users can no longer renew yearly software maintenance for an added fee. All personal perpetual licence holders are now only able to use the last available version.

-To use the latest version, one must change to subscription model.

-JamSoftware will not provide original installation file and licence key for previously purchased perpetual licences.

-Licence holders must maintain local backups of the installer and licence key.

Incidents

On 16 July 2026, Reddit user /u/Disastrous-Usual4484 posted on /r/pcmasterrace showing their perpetual TreeSize personal licence has been discontinued.[1] TreeSize personal licence will only be available as a subscription.

Although perpetual licence holder may continue using the software, they are no longer able to purchase additional 12 months maintenance period for updates.

Furthermore, JamSoftware will not provide original installation file for their software, nor provide the licence key for perpetual licence holders. The burden has been shifted on the licence holder to keep backups of the installer and licence key.[2]
