Subscription price increases (2025)

On October 1, 2025, the Xbox Game pass had its price increased the most around 50% for the Ultimate Subscription which is priced $29.99 from the previous price of $19.99 and the PC subscription up to 37.5% from $11.99 to $16.49.[1] This was also the time that they renamed the subscription service tiers: Core became Essential, and Standard became Premium. [2]

Unlimited hours of cloud gaming changed to monthly caps (2026)

Microsoft announced on September 3, 2026, that beginning in November 2026 all Xbox Game Pass customers using cloud gaming would have their unlimited hours changed to monthly caps. "Essential" would be restricted to 5 hours, "Premium" to 10, and "Ultimate" to 15. Additional cloud playtime hours would be purchasable through the Xbox Store.
