- The older article is typically favored when it comes to matters of duplication, but in this case I would go with keeping this one and deleting the other since the former has significantly less content and sources. If I were to make a small complaint about the newer one, it's that casual visitors are less likely to look up this incident under the term "PlayStation-brand hardwares" — most are going to search using "PlayStation games" even if it may be overly broad. — Sojourna (talk) 23:56, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
Previous edit ID 59881 reverted
[edit source]@Sojourna I do have to admit I'm disappointed, but not surprised by this decision.
I expected some revisions, but an entire reversion of the previous edit seems excessive, if not ultimately compliant with the propagation of misinformation. I'd like to argue that the previous edit didn't just "complicate the matter unnecessarily". It's just that it is a complicated matter by nature, with scarce information. And the now current again iteration simplified matters too much to the point where it did dangerous, incorrect and misleading generalizations for the consumer, so it is not the way to go.
I admit, the previous edit might have been too dense, but what was in it was factual in terms of content, with trustworthy and reliable sources backing it. DoesitPlay? has been around for a while now, documenting and proving the fully offline, no strings attached, playability of disc games. In addition, DoesitPlay? is directly involved with the Stop Killing Games movement (check the "The Core Team" section on SKG's website). So I ask you to reconsider this decision. The now current iteration incorrectly generalizes all discs as being useless like The Crew is, when in reality it is an exception rather than the rule.
This mistreatment and misrepresentation of one of the last (and soon ending) mainstream, consumer respecting forms of media distribution is not fair, and is factually incorrect. It ultimately fails to portray why Sony's decision to kill physical games in 2028 is as impactful as it is, why consumers should care, and fundamentally goes against this wiki's purpose.

- I'll restore it, then, but I do believe your original edit was too dense. If that could be improved upon, it'd be appreciated. — Sojourna (talk) 02:22, 17 July 2026 (UTC)
- Sure thing, I'll try to make an edit between today and tomorrow. Please do let me know your feedback when I do so. Thank you for hearing me out and undoing the edit, I'll try to trim things and focus on the essential. ~2026-1223 (talk) 00:52, 18 July 2026 (UTC)
- I've managed to do the edit now. I trimmed the text a fair bit, and made everything more straightforward. There are some sections I can't really trim much without changing their meaning, so I left them as is. I don't really think I can get it down from 20k bytes though... Anyway, I hope this edit helps. ~2026-1223 (talk) 01:33, 18 July 2026 (UTC)
